SEO Fractured Us as People — GEO Puts the Human Back Together

By Millisa Nwokolo, Founder of La Crown Inc. — March 4, 2026

For 20 years SEO told us to separate our businesses, fragment our brands, and hide the human. GEO flips the script — because AI recommends people, not websites.

Let me tell you something that's been bothering me for years. I run a freight brokerage agency with a $12M book of business. I also founded an AI automation company. I'm a mother. I'm involved in agricultural education in Nigeria. I write, I build voice agents, I consult, and I show up on stages to talk about all of it. Under the old SEO rules, I'm supposed to pretend those are separate people. Build separate sites. Run separate strategies. Fragment yourself. That was the advice. That was the playbook. And for 20 years, most of us followed it without question.

And you know what? It never made sense. Not for me. Not for you. Not for anyone who wears more than one hat in this life — which is most of us.

The SEO Era Split Us in Half

Search Engine Optimization was built for businesses. One website equals one entity equals one set of keywords. Nike.com is Nike. Apple.com is Apple. Simple. Clean. The whole framework assumes that one domain does one thing and all your content should serve that one thing.

But here's the problem — that framework was never built for humans. It was built for companies. And when real, multidimensional humans tried to play by those rules, the advice was always the same: pick a lane. Don't confuse the algorithm. Don't dilute your brand. Keep your freight business separate from your AI business. Keep your consulting separate from your content.

So we did. We built five different websites for five different ventures. We created separate social strategies for separate audiences. We fractured our own identities because a search engine told us to. And the whole time, the one thing that actually made us valuable — the fact that we're one human who does all of it — got buried.

SEO told us to fragment ourselves. AI is telling us to unify. That's not a small shift. That's a revolution.

Think About It Like a Family

I think about this the way I think about parenting. My kids don't know me as "the freight broker." They don't know me as "the AI founder." They know me as Mom — the person who does all of those things. And every single thing I do makes sense to them because they see the whole picture. They see the human.

Now imagine if my kids could only see one piece of me at a time. Monday Mom runs a freight business. Tuesday Mom is an AI developer. Wednesday Mom writes a blog. They'd think I was three different people. That's confusing. That doesn't build trust. That's what SEO did to our professional identities.

The people who follow me on LinkedIn see the freight broker. The people who find La Crown see the AI company. The people who read this blog see the writer. But the whole picture — the 26 years of experience that led to every single product I build — nobody sees that unless I tell them. And search engines weren't designed to connect those dots.

GEO Changes Everything

Generative Engine Optimization is fundamentally different from SEO. Not because the technology changed — but because what AI is looking for changed.

When someone asks ChatGPT for a recommendation, the answer is almost always a person. "Who should I hire?" "Who's the best at this?" "Who should I listen to?" AI recommends humans. That means the most valuable thing on the internet isn't a perfectly optimized business website. It's a complete, unified human identity.

Think about Kevin O'Leary. He runs O'Leary Ventures, O'Leary Wines, Beanstox, he's on Shark Tank, he writes books, he speaks globally. Under SEO thinking, that's seven separate strategies, seven separate websites, seven fragmented identities. The human disappears in the middle.

But does Kevin O'Leary seem scattered because he has his hands in seven pots? No. That's not scattered — that's leadership. Every venture he touches is proof of who he is. The wines, the investments, the show, the books — they all tell the same story about the same human. SEO couldn't see that. AI can — if you give it the right structure.

The Human Behind the Everything

This is what I'm building with GEO Upward. Not a directory. Not a listing site. A platform that puts the human back at the center of their own story.

Every idea you've had. Every project you've built. Every service you've launched. Every word you've written. Every voice you've used. Every business you've run. Those aren't separate things — they're all expressions of one human. And when AI understands that, it doesn't see you as a scattered brand with diluted authority. It sees you as what you actually are: someone with deep, multi-dimensional expertise who's been doing the work for years.

I didn't build La Crown because I wanted to leave freight. I built it because 26 years of freight gave me the knowledge to build something nobody else could. The freight broker IS the AI founder. They're the same person. And the moment AI understands that, my authority isn't split across two domains — it's doubled.

It's not about the idea, the thought, the project, the build, the service, the writing, the voice, or the business. It's about the human behind all of it.

Your 25 Hats Are a Feature

If you're reading this and you've ever felt guilty about not "picking a lane" — stop. The world doesn't need you to be one thing. It needs you to be you — all of it, connected, unified, and visible.

Gary Vee doesn't become scattered because he runs VaynerMedia, VeeFriends, Empathy Wines, and a personal brand across 10 platforms. Sara Uy isn't diluted because she does cold calling workshops AND social selling AND corporate training. I'm not confused because I move freight AND build AI. That's not dilution. That's depth.

The old rules said separate everything. The new rules say connect everything. Your businesses backlink to you. Your content feeds into your identity. Your identity strengthens every venture you touch. The human is the hub, and every hat you wear is evidence of your authority.

SEO fractured us. GEO puts us back together. And the founders who unify their identity now will be the ones AI recommends for the next decade.

Be the human in the equation.
